FAQ: A&R Training Program

How long is the A&R Training Program?

The program runs for 3-4 months, following a traditional college semester schedule: Spring, Summer, and Fall.

Do I need prior experience to join?

No prior experience is required! However, a strong network and proven track record are key for label's hiring A&Rs. We recommend potential students start managing an artist independently to build experience before or during the program.

How do mentorship and training sessions work?

We require students to be in-office to fully immerse in company culture and gain real-world experience from our executives. Face-to-face learning is essential for success in the music industry. Our offices are located in Nashville and Los Angeles.

What happens if I successfully sign an artist to The Upstate Sound?

If a student successfully develops and signs an artist to the label, they will have the opportunity to continue scouting talent for The Upstate Sound and earn a percentage of the masters from the artists they bring in.

How do the accountability calls work?

Members join a private group chat where we set goals, track progress, and provide feedback during scheduled calls.

How does the Mix Lottery work?

The Mix Lottery is an exclusive opportunity for members to have one of their tracks mixed live by our engineers with real-time feedback. However, this feature is dependent on the number of active members per year and will be scheduled accordingly based on demand.
